We are extremely grateful to the more than 400 guests who joined us for one of our most successful galas to date. We raised more than $430,000 to improve the lives of the most vulnerable in the Bay Area's Asian and Pacific Islander community. Photos from this evening can be found here.

NBC's Robert Handa was the emcee for an inspiring evening showcasing three powerful stories:

Sheila Lirio Marcelo, recipient of our Leadership in Philanthropy Award, shared her inspiring story of following her passion and pursuing a purposeful life while founding and leading Care.com. Sheila's son, Ryan Marcelo, delivered moving introductory remarks and reflected,

Every day, I see my mom leveraging her success to make a difference in the world around us. She is never satisfied with success. She is always striving for significance, always striving to make a lasting, positive impact.

Alice Giang - recipient of the Sung Chul Lee & Donald O. Cameron Memorial Scholarship - shared the difference that our support made for her as a first-generation college student:

I live below the poverty line. My parents fled South Vietnam during the war and settled in Oakland to build a new life. Being a recipient of an Asian Pacific Fund scholarship relieved some of the financial burden and allowed me the option to attend one of the best schools in the world: UCLA.

Alice's story is representative of the more than 70 students who receive scholarships each year through the Asian Pacific Fund.

In a powerful videoLeo Tan told his moving story of adjusting to life in America when he arrived with his mother from China. We followed their journey from loneliness and isolation to building confidence and connection through the support of our affiliate partner, Cameron House.

Our broad network of nonprofits like Cameron House are deeply rooted in the community and reach more than 100,000 vulnerable Asian and Pacific Islanders throughout the greater Bay Area.

If you didn't have a chance to make a donation at the gala, we welcome your support. Thank you for helping to make this year's gala such a special evening!

Warm regards,

Audrey Yamamoto
President & Executive Director
