November 2010

Each year Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces in Australia and around the world, with the sole aim of raising vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and depression in men.  My brother went green and then purple as he did his bit to raise awareness

Our November was busy giving our guests the ultimate in luxury accommodation during their stay at HideAway Haven

Some of our guests comments

'Thank you both for this wonderful property.  Your warm and gentle approach as hosts in commendable'

'Simply perfect. Quality and attention to detail evident everywhere.  A five star stay.' from 5 star accommodation providers in the Blue Mountains

'Thank You, Thank You, Thank You for creating such a wonderful place, that we could call home for 2 nights.  Comfort, quality and perfection reign supreme here, from every corner'

Our breakfast continue to be a drawcard to our many guests

Strawberries are among the most versatile of fresh fruits and in Albany strawberry season is in full swing.  I love going to the local strawberry farm and getting my supply of freshly picked strawberries for our guest's breakfast.

In addition to vitamin C, strawberries also provide an excellent source of vitamin K and manganese, as well as folic acid, potassium, riboflavin, vitamin B5, vitamin B6, copper, magnesium, and omega-3 fatty acids.

I use strawberries in our fruit bowels, breakfast parfaits and muffins

Tourist in our Town

We continue to bring you the best that Albany has to offer so you can plan your trip.  We took a trip to Whale World which is
situated on the site of the old Cheynes Beach Whaling Station, located on the picturesque southern coast of King George Sound.

The station ceased whaling operations and was decommissioned in 1978.  Now it is an international tourist icon and educational attraction, and acknowledged as one of the State's most significant tourist attractions.

It is also host to Discovery Bay which is in the beginning stages of its development.  Discovery Bay will consist of 3 components, Faunatopia which will incorporate a breeding program of endangered Australia species, Floracopia with local and regional wildflowers and Vancouver Wetlands which will be built around a water catchment and will recirculate approx 3 million litres of water continuously.

Dining out in Albany

We think it is important to have tried some of the restaurants in Albany, so we can recommend with confidence to our guests.  Calamaris must have the best outlook with panoramic views of Middelton Beach and Emu Point.  They specialise in local seafood with many Albany oyster dishes on the menu.  The service was friendly, fast and the servings generous.
