This is so exciting. Most of us love food and this gives you the opportunity to tour our region with a celebrity chef selecting the freshest produce available. Chef Daniel will cook an exclusive 4 course meal with you participating. Cooking will be upstairs in our kitchen where you are surrounded by spectacular views.
We filmed a promo on Sunday with a camera crew to video the experience. We began at the Boat Shed Markets at 10.30am before heading to Eden Gate Blueberry Farm, where we picked blueberries, were given a bottle of Blueberry Vinagerette and Port. We visited Marshalls Asparagus Farm and harvested asparagus for dinner. Then a visit to Oranje Tractor Wines for wine tasting , where we enjoyed a gourmet platter of fresh produce from their extensive garden. We had planned to visit Wignalls Winery but ran out of time.
Back at HideAway Haven, Albany's own celebrity chef Daniel Sharp gave us aprons and the interactive cooking experience began. Using all the produce purchased during the day, a mouthwatering amazing dinner was created! Check out our facebook photo album . The HideAway Infusion ~ Wine & Food Experience
Next weekend we will finish filming at HideAway Haven with guests enjoying the Jacuzzi then sinking into comfortable beds at the end of a funfilled day. Look forward to next newsletter as we will link you to The HideAway Infusion for you to view this experience.
As Maggie is still unable to work (also has fractured shoulder) we have been out and about trying different restaurants so we can recommend with confidence to our guests.
We tried Vancouver Café and Store for lunch. If you enjoy Pizza (wrap) this is the place to go. Just amazing!! They are open from 7.30 – 3.30. On Thursday nights they are open from 6pm for Pizza and live music. Experience a warm friendly atmosphere and fresh local produce.
On Sunday November, 27 they will host ‘The Future Shorts Festival’ which is the biggest pop up film festival of its kind, showcasing short films from all over the world. It takes place in 17 countries and 50 cities around the world. A choice of three delicious curries are available (prior order please) and there will be live music before the event. Doors open at 5.30pm and films start at 7.30.
Fresh Oysters in Albany. Available at The Boatshed Markets.
Rock Oysters are grown and cultured in the pristine unspoilt waters of the Southern Ocean, where industrial pollution is unheard of. For the first time in four years, Albany’s oysters are hitting international markets direct from their Oyster Harbour racks, exporting to Singapore and Dubai. The Oyster House at Emu Point is currently the only producer of Sydney Rock Oysters in WA and can land their product in Asian markets within 24 hours of leaving Albany, with a shelf life of 7-10 days.
Fresh oysters from Ocean Food International can be found every Sunday morning at the Boat Shed Markets, open from 10 – 1pm. Becki had the privilege of tasting an oyster shucked in front of her. We are fortunate to taste these oysters at the many events we attend.
Check out 5 spiced tempura oysters with lime and crispy shallots recipe from Albany’s celebrity chef Daniel Sharp.
When enjoying a weekend GetAway at HideAway Haven, head to the Boatshed Markets, pick up some oysters and cook them up in our fully equipped kitchen.
Thank you to all guests who have given us such amazing reviews on Trip Advisor and keeping us at #1 with a 5* rating. Big thanks for supporting us with your nomination for the 2012 ACCI Customer Service Business of the Year Award.
