It's a Small World
There is just one moon
And one golden sun
And a smile means
Friendship to ev'ryone
Though the mountains divide
And the oceans are wide
It's a small world after all
It really is a small world. In the past month some of our guests included a couple from Holland who works with my daughter's fiance. It was nice to hear first hand what a sweet guy my daughter is engaged to. Another couple own a holiday home in Becki's home state Idaho and have a son who lives in the same town as Becki's brother and does the same kind of work as him. Two couples staying with us this week had had business dealings in the past although they had never actually met. We had a couple from France and one from from England. Found out that the English couples' sister lived in the same town as the French couple.
Eduard & Marja from Holland with Ragz my daughter's cat
We love our native garden and all the animals it houses. Last night we rescued a baby 'Australian Owlet-nightjar' who couldn't find his way off our deck. Our guest from England had a very close encounter with something very big, furry, long tail and sitting in the tree. It was Polly our ring tail possum. Yesterday afternoon the Kookaburra's were laughing in the old gum tree telling us it might rain today. And then we have all our frogs which shows how balanced our environment is.
We have had some very special guests the last fortnight. Mark and Karen who were our fastest return guests. Left for 1 night and then returned. Nic and Anne who stayed here for a week to help with the preparations for their daughter's wedding. Adam & Sara our gorgeous honeymoon couple. Alan & Ann who have stayed 10 nights. They celebrated Ann's birthday while they were here. Our goal is to have have a different hot dish on the menu every day, no matter how long our guests are staying. That has been a real challenge in the last fortnight, but something we have proudly achieved so far. We have also had fun revisiting some oldies and Becki has been showing some real flair when it comes to plating (thanks Iron Chef) and photographing the dishes. Banana Hotcakes, Cocette of Pineapple Bread Pudding ('heaven' said Anne) and baked egg with sausage and tomato.
We have also been cooking our Italian dinners and served a steamboat meal to our honeymoon couple. Awesome idea if you don't want to go out and find somewhere to eat after a long drive.
