2019 Western Canadian Tobacco Reduction Forum: Getting There Together

While a general declining trend in commercial tobacco use rates has been observed, it is clear that some individuals and groups are disproportionately affected by commercial tobacco use and its harm. What has previously worked in tobacco control may need to be reassessed and reformed with true engagement of disproportionately affected individuals and groups.

The Western Canadian Tobacco Reduction Forum will provide an opportunity for knowledge sharing and translation, networking, and planning to facilitate Getting There Together! Attendees will explore effective approaches to achieving Canada’s ambitious new target of reducing the overall smoking rate to 5% by 2035. Presenters will include national tobacco control leaders and experts on various elements of tobacco reduction including tobacco cessation, prevention, and policy.

The forum is hosted by the Campaign for a Smoke-Free Alberta, of which the Alberta Policy Coalition for Chronic Disease Prevention is a member.

Presenters are invited to submit an abstract for an oral or poster presentation.

The call for abstracts is open until Thursday, January 31st, 2019.

Note: All primary care stakeholders are invited to attend the forum, which coincides with the Spring PCN Strategic Leadership Forum on February 22nd and 23rd and is taking place at the same hotel.
