APCCP Special Announcement:
All-Party Forum on the Health of Albertans
The Alberta Policy Coalition for Chronic Disease Prevention (APCCP) would like to formally invite you to the All-Party Forum on the Health of Albertans. The Forum will be held April 10th, 2012 from 11:45 am to 1:15 pm at the newly built Edmonton Clinic Health Academy.
The goal of the forum is to provide political parties in AB with the opportunity to share their perspectives on how to prevent disease and promote wellness in Alberta. The event is focused on party perspectives that strive to help Albertans ‘stay healthy’ and is not a forum to discuss health care delivery in Alberta.
Date: April 10th, 2012.
Time: 11:45 am to 1:15 pm (90 minutes).
Location: Room L 1-490, Edmonton Clinic Health Academy, 11405-87 Ave, Edmonton, AB.
Directions to the Forum
The Edmonton Clinic Health Academy (ECHA) is located at 11405-87 Avenue NW. ECHA is located directly behind the Health Sciences/Jubilee LRT station. A Wellness Foundation for Alberta. It’s About Health. It’s About Time.
The All-party candidate forum is part of the APCCP’s campaign to support the development of a Wellness Foundation in Alberta as a strategy to increase sustainable and long-term investments in disease prevention and health promotion.
Although isolated gains have been made in improving the health status of Albertans, chronic diseases continue to be the leading cause of death and disability in Alberta. Cancer, ischemic heart disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and diabetes have a major impact on the physical, mental and economic health of all Albertans.
It’s time to take a new approach to improve our health and quality of life, and to reduce the substantial demands on our healthcare system. To learn more about why Alberta needs a Wellness Foundation and how this could be achieved, visit the APCCP website.
