Report released following serious injuries sustained by a worker at Appin North Mine

A worker suffered permanent injuries to his foot when his foot became entangled in a scraper conveyor while it was operating. The worker pulled his foot out of the scraper conveyor and while doing so suffered serious and permanent injuries to his toes and foot.

The report describes our investigation into the cause and circumstances of the incident and provides the investigation findings and recommendations to industry.

Increased risk period

We understand that Christmas can be a difficult time for many people. The cumulative impacts of COVID-19 in 2020 will only serve to heighten stress this year. It can be a time of excess and induce a rise in mental health issues, especially for FIFO mine workers and those working at remote mine sites.

We have completed the establishment of the Standardised Subsidence Information Management System (i.e. SSIMS), a state-of-the-art web-based subsidence information resource. The System comprises a Data Submission Portal, a Subsidence Database and Subsidence Query Facilities.
