Over 200 electrical engineers examined the idea of ‘back to basics’ at the NSW Resources Regulator's 28th annual Electrical Engineering Safety Seminar on 7 & 8 November.
Mine workers, manufacturers, contractors and industry specialists from across the State were in attendance. The event discussed electrical hazards, how these hazards become an unacceptable risk to the health and safety of people, and how to best control the risks associated with the sector.
Chief Inspector of Mines at the Resources Regulator, Garvin Burns, said the event was key to making the NSW mining industry a safer place to work.
“This event is a key part of our engagement with the mining industry and I was delighted to see so many in attendance this year,” Mr Burns said.
“We had a great program of speakers across a range of topics, with a particular focus on innovative risk management procedures and electrical engineering issues and safety.”
The event also featured a session with mine safety expert Dr Justin Ludke, who spoke about incident investigation and injury prevention.
