Examinations available for underground mine supervisor in 2017

The new underground mine supervisor statutory function for underground metalliferous mines will take effect from 1 February 2018. From that date, mine operators of underground metalliferous mines will have to nominate a person to exercise the statutory function.

A Certificate of competence guide on the requirements for the underground mine supervisor certificate of competence has been developed by the department. The guide outlines the practical experience, qualifications and age requirements of each of the certificates of competence, including the new underground mine supervisor and is available on the department’s website.

A new application form is also now available on the department’s website, along with examination dates in 2017 for the new statutory function of underground mine supervisor.

Applications for certificates of competence require a person to submit evidence of holding applicable competencies in order to be approved to undertake the assessment. The application form can be found on the department’s website.

Examination dates for the underground mine supervisor can be found on the 2017 examinations calendar.

Visit the department’s website for more information on certificates of competence.
