Implementation of an exposure standard for diesel particulate matter in NSW mines

NSW is the first mining jurisdiction in Australia to implement an exposure standard of 0.1mg/m3 for diesel particulate matter, measured as elemental carbon, which came into force on 1 February 2021 after a 12-month transitional period.

To assist industry in managing compliance with the new exposure standard, we have published a Position Paper detailing our regulatory approach.

Last call: Certificate of competence briefing session

Last call: Certificate of competence briefing session – deputy

An additional online candidate briefing session for underground coal mine deputy certificate of competence applicants will be held tomorrow, Friday 5 February.

The online session will run from 10 am to 12 pm and will help prospective candidates understand how to apply and undertake the certificate of competence exams in 2021.
There will be an opportunity to ask questions. The session will also be recorded and published on our website.
