Local attorneys and law students spend holidays helping asylum seekers

Adjunct Professor Rudy Monterrosa '01 J.D., his wife, Cecilia, and a group of Law School students headed to the U.S.-Mexico border over winter break to provide representation for mothers and children who were being detained as asylum seekers. We will provide an update on their trip in the coming weeks.

Carter Snead writes for Public Discourse

Carter Snead and Mary O'Callaghan, a fellow at the Center for Ethics and Culture, write about a law that prohibits abortions performed solely because the unborn child has Down syndrome or another disability. Read their article here.

ND Law alum helping communities fight crime

Four years ago John W. Nelson ’64, ’67 J.D. started the Montrose Regional Crime Stoppers in Grand Junction, Colo. and currently serves as regional director for Crime Stoppers USA, helping to educate and train volunteers with programs in Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, and Colorado. Read his story here.

Welcome new staff members
 
Jennifer Fox has joined the Law School as our new registrar! Jenny most recently served as assistant dean for programming and personnel within the First Year of Studies Program and has been with the University since 2005. Please stop by 1101 Eck Hall to meet Jenny, and welcome her to the Law School.

 
Sarah Carruthers ’10 is the new associate director, law and graduate business annual giving. She was most recently a territory manager at Remarkable Liquids. Sarah will be spending the next few months in the development offices at Eddy Street, but will be setting up a regular schedule at the Law School. She will be in suite 1341 Biolchini.
