Notre Dame Lawyers Connect | January 2017
Happy New Year
Thank you Notre Dame Lawyers!

First, thank you Notre Dame Lawyer Committee Leaders who worked closely with our student ambassadors to plan the wonderful networking opportunities for our students over winter break; they were a great success. Also thank you to all the ND Lawyers that attended the events and those that met our students for coffee or lunch. Finally, thank you to ND Lawyers that planned and participated in the many pro-bono and public-interest opportunities presented to out Galilee students while they were visiting your cities.

NDLS appreciates your time and efforts.

Robert Burgdorf, Jr., 70, 73 J.D., Pioneering Disability Rights

Robert Burgdorf, ’73 J.D., was recently featured by Notre Dame Magazine in an article titled "Pioneering Disability Rights." Burgdorf, who became a key player in the drafting of the Americans with Disabilities Act, describes how Notre Dame gave him the opportunity as a student to learn and join the battle against discrimination on the basis of disability. Burgdorf and fellow law students helped develop a National Center for Law and the Handicapped, which opened in 1972.

Notre Dame Lawyers and Students Gather for Networking Events during Winter Break

Galilee program participants, students home on winter break, admitted students, and members of Notre Dame Lawyer Committees gathered for networking events in many of our major markets in the first two weeks in January. Students involved in the Galilee: Justice at Work Program joined together in groups and traveled to cities to learn about public-interest and public-service law. The Galilee students along with other NDLS students joined Notre Dame Lawyers at local establishments to introduce themselves and learn more about the legal markets.
