Travel Policy

The University has issued a Summer 2021 Travel policy as an addendum to the current COVID Travel policy. More information can be found here.

Here are the highlights:
University travel directly related to teaching or research is permitted over the summer (May 23 - August 23), but must be approved in advance by the Dean.
  • Faculty requests for travel should be sent to Randy.
  • Staff requests for travel should be sent to Suzanne.
All travel must be booked through Anthony Travel.
International travel, as always, must be registered with NDI.
  • Travel and any required quarantines must be completed by August 23, 2021, unless an exception is granted by the Dean.
  • The existing COVID Travel policy will resume for the Fall semester on August 23, 2021, which limits travel for faculty and staff to essential travel only. Personal travel is strongly discouraged during the Fall and Spring semesters. It's possible these restrictions will be eased later on, but this is the current travel policy for the 2021-22 academic year.
Dear faculty and staff,
We want to share your scholarship and other news and accomplishments with the ND Law community. If you have a new research piece, receive an award, or have anything else to share please let us know. You can email news here

Department Feature
In our feature this week, we are excited to highlight and get to know more of our
Administrative Assistants!
Name: Alicia Cummins

Job Title: Faculty Administrative Assistant

Brief description of what you do at the Law School: Provide assistance to professors here in the Law School and beginning this fall semester, will provide support to the London adjunct faculty.

Family: I'm from a large family of seven children where the girls outnumbered the boys--five girls to two boys. And growing up on a farm in rural Indiana, this many hands "make light work" (well, it did at least some of the time).

What do you like to do outside of work?: I enjoy being outside gardening. Or getting lost in a good book (particularly historical novels). Or just simply walking. I have walked to work, through rain and snow, for many years and still do so here at NDLS. I walk for my health, to limit my carbon footprint, and just to be out enjoying nature.

One interesting fact, accomplishment, or tidbit you would like to share about yourself: Shortly after moving into my current home while landscaping around the house, I single-handedly moved four tons (and a little bit more) of broken cement, piece by piece, constructing raised flower beds, borders, and even a small patio area. My neighbor thought what I was attempting was crazy--I proved him wrong.

Name: Anne Peterson

Job Title: Administrative Assistant, Exoneration Justice Clinic

Brief description of what you do at the Law School: As this is our first official year as a Clinic, I have assumed a variety of different roles in establishing our experiential practice focusing on wrongful convictions.

Family: My pup, Lucy Serena Williams Peterson, and my three nieces.

What do you like to do outside of work?: Read, play tennis, play with Lucy.

One interesting fact, accomplishment, or tidbit you would like to share about yourself: I have attended three of the four Grand Slam tennis tournaments. Someday, I'll get to Australia!

Here is a photo of Lucy Serena Williams Peterson!

Name: Kristina Kusisto

Job Title: Administrative Assistant

Brief description of what you do at the Law School: I support faculty with various tasks throughout the year as well as assisting students and the occasional office visitor.

What do you like to do outside of work?: I enjoy reading (primarily fantasy or sci-fi) or catching up on shows. Pre-Covid, I enjoyed eating out or visiting various cafes as well.

One interesting fact, accomplishment, or tidbit you would like to share about yourself: I love traveling: I've been abroad to England, Wales (a 1-day trip), Italy, and South Korea. I hope to visit more places in the future.

National Day of Prayer

The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people of all faiths to pray for our nation. Staff Chaplain Fr. Jim Bracke, C.S.C., will offer a virtual prayer service for members of the Notre Dame community encouraging open hearts and minds seeking wisdom, peace, and understanding from 12:00-12:15 p.m. on Thursday, May 6. All faith traditions welcome. Click here to access the Zoom link.
