Carter Snead's book wins research award

Carter's book, "What it Means to be Human: The Case for the Body in Public Bioethics," won the Research Award from the Expanded Reason Awards, organized by the Expanded Reason Institute. Learn more here.
Supreme Court agrees to hear Carson v. Makin

Earlier this month the Supreme Court agreed to hear Carson v. Makin. Rick Garnett and Nicole Stelle Garnett, along with the Religious Liberty Initiative students, had filed an amicus brief in the case this spring to challenge the exclusion of religious schools from Maine's school choice program.
Veronica Root Martinez authors chapters in the Cambridge Handbook of Compliance

Veronica authored one chapter and co-authored a second in the recently published Cambridge Handbook of Compliance. Learn more here
Lloyd Mayer quoted by NPR's Nina Totenberg and wrote article for Law 360

Lloyd was quoted in "The Supreme Court Throws Out A State Law Requiring Nonprofits To Name Rich Donors."

Lloyd wrote about the U.S. Supreme Court's opinion in Americans for Prosperity Foundation v. Bonta, read "Justices Open The Door Wider For Donor Info Law Challenges."
Roger Alford co-authors article for CATO Institute and quoted by Wired

Roger co-authored "Anticompetition in Buying and Selling Homes" with Ben Harris, who is President Biden's nominee for assistant secretary for economic policy in the US Treasury. Read the article here

Roger was also quoted in "Actually, the Antitrust Case Against Facebook Is Very Much Alive."

Sam Bray testifies on Supreme Court case selection

Sam testified before the Presidential Commission on the Supreme Court of the United States earlier this month.

The commission was created in April with the goal of analyzing proposed Supreme Court reforms. The commission is bipartisan and composed of experts on the court and the various proposed reforms. Read more here.

Winners of 2021 Smith-Doheny Legal Ethics Writing Competition announced

Eric Singerman, a rising third-year student at the University of Chicago Law School, was the first-place winner. Recent ND Law graduate Daniel Judge ’21 J.D. took home the second prize. Read more here

Felicia Caponigri participated in the International Society of Public Law's annual conference ICON-S Mundo from July 6-9. As a member of the conference Organizing Committee, Felicia co-chaired the conference's Women's Reception with Rosalind Dixon and convened a forum on The Future of Public Law Through Art and Cultural Heritage with Italian colleagues.
