Weekly thoughts and updates from Hanover's pastor.

April 5, 2012

In four days were the sum and the source of faith for the first disciples.

On Thursday they shared a meal with Him.
They were blessed and bewildered.

On Friday they watched Him die.
They were shocked and abandoned.

On Sunday they raced to a tomb looking for Him.
They were afraid and inspired.

Now it's our turn.

Next Sunday, April 15, we will experience the warmth and hospitality of our deacons at the annual Deacons' Luncheon.  The fellowship and festivities start immediately after worship and all are invited.  We will celebrate the ties that bind, the compassionate work of our deacons, and those who have reached the fifty year landmark of membership at Hanover, this year honoring Mary Frances Haynes.
Speaking of new life, hope, and joy: we received more pledges last week in our stewardship drive and we have surpassed our pledge goal!  In November the pledge goal was set at $155,000, knowing it would be a challenge.  Last week we received our 62nd pledge that brought the total to $155,775!  Praise God for the generosity and commitment of the Hanover Saints!
On Resurrection Sunday we will gather at the Josephine Gardens in Brandywine Park at 7:00am to receive and rejoice in the news of the empty tomb.  Breakfast will be offered back at the church beginning at 8:00am.  We will rejoin and rejoice a third time at 10:00 to celebrate the ultimate healing in the new and everlasting life received in the Resurrection.  There will be a time of fellowship after worship, but there will not be Discipleship groups.
