Family Web and Further Research

Since 2012 I have been developing a website titled, "The Alve Family in New Zealand"  Edited content from the family history and genealogical book, "Alve Road" published in 1994 has been added progressively to the website. Text has been edited and updated; images have been enhanced (where we have them); new images have been included; and genalogical data (BDM) has been updated. Some of this content has been password protected to ensure a degree of confidentiality.

Once current researched is completed; it is planned to re-publish the 'book' as an eBook. Hopefully this project will be completed by Easter 2015 so that those attending the mini-Reunion will be the first to view this new publication.

The image below is one of the enhanced images, included in the book, that is now on the website.

Eddie and Charlie butchering the pork around 1915. More than enough for the family as big as it was. Also supplying the neighbouring flax mill.
Just as I am discovering new information, much of it through Google search, as well as from contact with family and those who knew family members, so I am sure you are too. If you think your info might add to this formal record please share it. This is an ongoing work.

Want to view the protected web content?

VISIT THIS PAGE  -  complete the form and your password will emerge once you submit the form.

You may share this pass with family members; beyond that we'd prefer you didn't - some of the content is sensitive. When passing on this info please alert others of this sensitivity and invite them to join the list.

Enough for now ... let's keep talking .... and I would love to be with you on Easter Sunday in Palmerston North in six months.

A Mini-Reunion Day In Palmerston North

Easter 2015 marks twenty years since the 1995 Alve Family Reunion was held at Highden near Palmerston North. On that occasion nearly 150 descendants of Carl and Maria Alve (including partners) gathered over two days. You can read reports about what happened at that Reunion HERE

Many of us are now 20 years older; if we're not then we were not born then! Some of us would like to mark the occasion by having a mini-Reunion day on Easter Sunday - 5 April 2015. We have a room at the Palmerston North Convention Centre booked and we have begun planning what we might do to celebrate. So far the sketch outline of the day looks like this:

Gather at the graveside of Carl & Maria and other family members in the Terrace End cemetery, PN
Gather at the Convention Centre on Main Street for a late morning tea and pre-lunch welcome and chat
Catered lunch
Story telling; update on Family History and Research; photos, etc.
3:00 pm
Afternoon Tea
Bus tour to family sites if sufficient interest

We rely on you to get the word out. This eList runs to 25 people. If you can forward this email to family members in your circle of contacts, we would be most appreciative. And why not pre-register now and help us to gauge interest. It's not a commitment to attend; just an expression of interest.
