We Need YOU to Stop Cove Point
The approval of the Cove Point LNG export facility would mean more fracking, pipelines, compressor stations, health hazards and community disruption throughout the Chesapeake Bay watershed. It would also be a climate disaster. Here's a great fact sheet on liquefied fracked gas.
May 15: The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) will release its environmental review for Cove Point, triggering a 30-day public comment period. We'll need your help to collect comments.
May 31: FERC has agreed to hold only one public meeting about its environmental review for Cove Point -- probably Saturday, May 31, in Calvert County. We urge you to be there. Also, please write Sens. Cardin and Mikulski TODAY to urge them to keep fighting for statewide public hearings about this threat.
July 13: Rally and March to Stop Fracked Gas Exports - Stop Cove Point! Thousands of activists from around the region will march to FERC's headquarters in Washington, DC.

 Wind Power at Risk
Ask Governor O'Malley to veto HB 1168
In the last hours of the session, the Maryland General Assembly passed HB 1168, which imposes an arbitrary 15-month moratorium on land-based utility-scale wind power near Patuxent River Naval Air Station in southern Maryland. The Navy and the Great Bay Wind Energy Center are negotiating about this project, and there's no reason to believe an agreement can't be worked out. Article herePlease urge Governor O'Malley to veto this bill.
