The Maryland Department of  Environment (MDE) has developed issue papers about topics that generated extensive interest when MDE, under the O'Malley administration, proposed regulations in January 2015. The issue papers include an overview of the requirements included in the 2015 proposal and MDE's tentative suggestions for revising those requirements. When MDE held three public meetings in June (MDE's PowerPoint presentation) to hear comments on the papers, it was met with an outcry.

Oil Trains Rally in Baltimore
Wednesday, July 6
War Memorial Plaza
This week is the nationwide Week of Action on oil trains, in remembrance of the explosion in Lac-Megantic.  Baltimore has a history of rail disasters and damaged infrastructure, and we need to take action to protect ourselves. A derailment two weeks ago demonstrated the serious risks of oil train traffic, and we need to call on the Baltimore City Council and mayor to protect Baltimore from bomb trains.
