Climate Change News

  • New York's attorney general subpoenas Exxon Mobil to determine whether the company lied to the public and investors about the dangers of climate change. Lots of coverage from InsideClimate News (which broke the news about Exxon's lies) and the NYT, The investigation could target other oil companies. The Los Angeles Times also has been reporting on Exxon's duplicity. Doug Hendren of Musical Scalpel sings Exxon Knew All Along
  • North Carolina, a wholly owned subsidiary of Duke Energy, says only public utilities can sell electricity. Selling solar power from a church is therefore civil disobedience; Duke Energy asks for fines.
  • #MondayNightFootball meets #DumpDominion : At the Bank Of American Stadium in Charlotte, activists rappel from bleachers and unfurl a banner that says: "BoA, Dump Dominion" The action was to draw attention to Dominion's plans for a giant fracked-gas liquefaction and export factory at Cove Point -- and Bank of America's bankrolling of the project. An interview with one of the activists here. Follow DumpDominion here.
