Heath effects
of fracking
The draft scoping report from the Maryland Marcellus Shale Public Health Study is available for public comment at until Jan. 24. This report is comprehensive and ambitious, but the state didn't assign a study of the health costs of fracking to the health or economic studies. Please include that shortcoming in your comments.

to stop Cove Point

Wednesday, Jan. 8, 9:30 a.m.

. Dominion Resources wants to liquefy and export fracked gas from a planned facility at Cove Point in Calvert County, a scheme that would accelerate fracking across the Marcellus and other shales and lead to more community-disrupting pipelines and compressor stations. It would also be a major climate polluter in our state.
We will carpool to this event, meeting
at 8:15 a.m. at the East Columbia Library, 6600 Cradlerock Way. Email or
call 443-803-8546 so we know you are joining us. Forecast shows a high of 31 degrees and mostly sunny, so dress warmly and wear comfortable walking shoes/boots.
