 More threats at Cove Point
Please sign the petition urging a comprehensive environmental review of the proposed Cove Point export plant for fracked gas. Calvert residents have demanded more answers following an explosion at an LNG facility in Plymouth, Washington. So far, federal regulators have rejected pleas for the most stringent review, settling instead for the lesser Environmental Assessment. FERC also rebuffed requests from Senators Mikulski and Cardin for five public meetings around the state. So far, only one public hearing is planned. The tentative date is Saturday, May 31, in Lusby. Prince George's and Montgomery officials continue to press for hearings in their counties.
What's the rush?
Please sign the petition now.

A statewide coalition of environmental, health, civic and social justice organizations delivered more than 40,000 comments to the Public Service Commission saying Cove Point is not in the best interest of Marylanders. Thank you for sending your comments.

Ask Governor O'Malley to veto HB 1168
In the last hours of the session, the Maryland General Assembly passed HB 1168, which imposes an arbitrary 15-month moratorium on land-based utility-scale wind power near Patuxent River Naval Air Station in southern Maryland. The Navy and the Great Bay Wind Energy Center are negotiating about this project, and there's no reason to believe an agreement can't be worked out. Article herePlease urge Governor O'Malley to veto this bill.
