One More Step

Everyone said the Maryland Legislature wouldn't pass
a fracking moratorium.
But the people of Maryland,
health professionals
and business owners spoke out.
A bill with bipartisan support is poised to pass.

Tell Gov. Hogan that Marylanders deserve protections against fracking.  We need a moratorium now!

Free Your Voice Concert
April 25, 3 - 6 pm  Baltimore

Free Your Voice Group, a student-led human rights group of United Workers, has for three years pressured the Baltimore school system and other entities, including Howard County government, Howard Community College and Howard County Public Schools, to cancel contracts with what would be the nation’s largest trash burning incinerator. News this week is that Howard County government and HCPSS are terminating their contracts. The students are also trying to get clean businesses, such as a solar farm, into their neighborhood. During the week of Earth Day, Free Your Voice is hosting an outdoor concert at Benjamin Franklin High School, 1201 Cambria St. Baltimore, to celebrate and build this movement for the beloved community.

From May 21-29, Beyond Extreme Energy is heading back to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission building on First Street in Washington. FERC says its mission is to provide safe, efficient, sustainable energy for the country. It is failing on all counts. Instead, communities around the nation are fighting compressor stations, pipelines and export facilities. FERC should make decisions based on what’s best for all of us instead of the fracked-gas industry. Don't miss the opportunity to work with people around the country trying to get  beyond extreme energy.  Details and sign up here.
