A Circuit Court judge has ruled that Calvert Commissioners violated the state constitution when they exempted Dominion from all local zoning laws. Mike Tidwell of CCAN has called the ruling the "first sand in the gears" for the fracked-gas export project. Sign a pledge of resistance to stop Cove Point here.
Two sign-on lettersTell Gov. O'Malley to call for a study of the risks at Cove Point. Tell Gov. O'Malley that Maryland shouldn't allow secret, toxic fracking chemicals
Here's a great fact sheet on liquefied fracked gas.
Here's a compilation of health studies on fracking.
Despite Dominion's claims to the contrary, Cove Point is all about fracking.

Support Wind Energy

A wind project in Southern Maryland is in trouble again. This time Sen. Barbarba Mikulski has added language to a defense bill that would delay the project and, in effect, kill it. Many environmental and Eastern Shore groups are calling on Mikulski to stop blocking the project. CCAN press release here. CCAN blog post here, articles here & here. Please email Mikulski here.

This spring, more than 1,110 households in DC & MD joined Groundswell's Community Power Program and enrolled in 100 percent wind power for their homes.
Because 11 households designated HoCo Climate Change as the referral organization, we received a much appreciated $110 donation from Groundswell.
If you participated in Groundswell's program and designated HoCo Climate Change but did NOT receive a thank you email from us, please email us so we can receive credit for your participation.
