Cove Point is our KXL
Take action today
- LAST CHANCE: Tell the Public Service Commission that the plans for Cove Point are not in the best interest of Marylanders and will expand fracking across the region. CCAN and other groups will print out your online comments, and we will deliver them to the PSC April 2. You can also sign up to join us for the delivery. Please help us reach our statewide goal of 20,000 comments, a record for the PSC. In Howard County, we collected 288 comments from shoppers at MOMs Organic Market over the last two weekends, and our allies around the state have collected more than 18,000 comments. Please add your comment now. This campaign is making national news.
- This month, 14 activists — four in Cumberland, four in Frederick (including a member of HoCo Climate Change) and six in Calvert County — were arrested in acts of civil disobedience against the proposed export facility. Read about the Frederick action here, the Frederick activists' statements here, the Cumberland action here & Calvert County here.
Wind Power at Risk
Instead of a moratorium on fracking, we might get stuck with a 15-month moratorium on land-based utility-scale wind power. HB 1168, which passed in the House of Delegates, would prohibit wind farms within 56 miles of the Patuxent River Naval Air Station in southern Maryland. The bill will be heard in the Senate Finance Committee Tuesday. Article here
