UnFUN FACTS

To manufacture one plastic bottle takes
1/4 bottle of petroleum plus 3 bottles of water. Production in the U.S. alone uses more than 17 million barrels of oil annually, enough to fuel 1.3 million cars for a year (not including the oil used for transportation). You know what to do.

RALLY AGAINST COVE POINT
Stop fracked-gas exports
Sunday, July 13

 .

Let's make this happen
Rally and March to Stop Fracked-Gas Exports
Thousands of activists from around the region will march to the DC headquarters of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) on Sunday, July 13, starting at 12:30 p.m., and say NO to Cove Point. Preparing the way for this rally, about 20 people a day picketed in front of FERC (photo above) during the last week in June. Now we need to head to DC for this rally. For too long, FERC has rubber-stamped oil and gas projects with no regard for the cumulative effects on our health, the environment or our climate. Rally speakers include Mike Tidwell, Sandra Steingraber and Tim DeChristopher. We will tell FERC and President Obama that we can't frack, pipe, liquefy and export our way to a safe climate, a clean and healthy environment, or energy security.

Email HoCoClimateChange@gmail.com to carpool, leaving Columbia at 10:45 a.m. from the park & ride at Broken Land Parkway and Route 32, west side.
More details on Cove Point: http://stopcovepoint.org.
Here's a great fact sheet on liquefied fracked gas.

Risk arrest: The day after the rally, at least 18 activists will risk arrest in a nonviolent sit-in at FERC's headquarters. Sign up here to risk arrest, to provide jail support, or to chant, sing, carry signs and show support.

Sign the letter: If Maryland allows fracking, we should insist on full disclosure of toxic chemicals. Physicians for Social Responsibility is collecting signatures on a letter to Gov. O'Malley here.
