Johan Botha celebration of life

Tickets are moving quickly for Johan Botha and Friends, the celebration of life concert with Goitsemang Lehobye (soprano),  Bongiwe Nakani (mezzo) and Mandla Ndebele accompanied by Bernhard Gueller and the CPO.   Read more about why Botha is one of the world’s important tenors here, and also if you want to know more about the friends.

45th Annual Youth Music Festival

The CPYO’s harpist Lisa Brits (16) will give the first public performance of Allan Stephenson’s Fantasy (2015) for Harp and Strings in the 45th Annual Youth Music Festival on 19 August at the Artscape Theatre at 19.30.  With Brandon Phillips on the podium, the CPO will accompany several talented young soloists.  More details here.

Sleeping Beauty

The CPO will accompany Cape Town City Ballet eight performances of Sleeping Beauty from September 2 to 18 at Artscape Opera. More here.

19 August CPYO trio at Kirstenbosch

A trio of three young CPYO musicians, Lynne Donson (cello), Joshua Lewis (violin) and Carlyle Botha (viola), has been invited to perform in the concert series at Kirstenbosch at Moyo at 18:00.

Spring Season

Divas Unite

Woman’s Day celebrations include Diva’s Unite, featuring an all-female CPO with conductor Brandon Phillips, at Grand West Casino on 9 August at 15:00.

Mixed Doubles

Guest concertmaster Farida Bacharova and pianists François du Toit,  Kathleen Tagg and Reese Barkhuizen, conducted by Tim Murray,  will present an evening of Mozart and Mendelssohn concerti on Thursday, 11 August at the Baxter Concert Hall at 20:15. Tickets from Computicket.

Carin Bam joins CPO

Welcome to Carin Bam, new associate principal oboe and principal cor anglais from August 1, makes her debut in the Johan Botha concert on August 13.  See what brought her to the CPO here.
