We've made it through the end of the world to the end of the year. Here's what December held for us.

Do Widzenia 2012

Through the end of the world to the end of the year

We want to start our last update of the year with a giant THANK YOU! We've let go of the idea of routine. We're now aiming for stability. 2012 was full of the unexpected and the challenging and we're grateful that we didn't face it alone. Thanks for tackling this year with us. As we bid adieu to 2012, please know that we are incredibly grateful for your support and encouragement. They made all the difference.

December In Review

A few highlights taken from the last month

On December 1st, the church in Włocławek hosted a group from the church in Chełmno, where we speak about once a month. The night was originally planned as an outreach but morphed into a night of prayer and inspiration. Honestly we weren't sure what to expect, but it was a great evening and we believe it was a huge encouragement to our rag-tag group - to be reminded that they are part of a larger family that reaches around the region.

We were invited to participate in a regional leadership Christmas gathering. Sadly, Matthew's teaching schedule prevented us from attending. We share this with you though because we heard it was a great time that went longer than planed. It is another significant milestone in terms of leaders from around our region bonding. We work better with those we know and like - this involves spending time together.

Christmas presented us with some great opportunities to explain the reason for the season and why we celebrate. Some good talks were had at the language school where Matthew teaches. God provided some great opportunities for us to be a blessing to others and we continued to invest into the relationships we have. If you haven't done so already, capitalize on this season and take some time to demonstrate what you believe.

We also celebrated Daxon's very first birthday (hard to believe) and Matthew's 29th. December is a great month of celebration for us.

New Wheels

The growing need to be mobile

As mentioned in out last update, we have a growing need for a vehicle. Not only for our own family life, but for our growing involvement with the regional church movement. If you'd like to contribute, please get in touch with us and we'll let you know how. We're setting aside funds in a special account until we're able to afford a vehicle. Also, please be praying for this. Experience has taught us to expect a bureaucratic battle of sorts as we delve into the world of Polish car purchasing.

Prayers for the New Year

What we're praying about as we head into 2013

  • continued health and safety
  • we feel like a dog who has been chasing a car and then actually caught it. The question becomes, now what? We've spent so much time and energy trying to stay in Poland and now we actually have our temporary residency. Our prayer is, now what?
  • new strategic connections within our town and around the region
  • a boost in our language learning. We've hit a certain level, but we want to kick it up a notch in the new year
