Eben Demarest Grant

2015 is off to an incredible start - I'm very excited to announce that I have been awarded the Eben Demarest Trust Award by The Pittsburgh Foundation. This grant is given to support creative and intellectual independence and will be significantly helping me and my art practice this year.  I'm proud to join the ranks of the past winners, such as Jackson Pollock and poet Robert Duncan and I am very thankful for Ryan Lammie and Jessica Bowser's help during the application process. An even bigger thank you is owed to my patrons, family and audience - without your support and encouragement, I would have never had the courage to confidently take on the application.

News and Upcoming Events

Pittsburgh Flight School Fellowship

I'm proud to announce that I've been selected to participate in the 2015 Flight School Fellowship. I am 1 of 15 artists given an incredible opportunity to form a fellowship with peers & institutional leaders to advance our artistic careers in a way that sustains and expands financial and strategic goals, while keeping our artwork as the central feature. I'm can't wait to start the program this February.

Bhutan & Start With Art

This April/May, I'll be teaming up with Surgicorps International and joining them on their medical expedition to Bhutan as their artist in residency. I plan on using the time to further explore the meditative qualities in my line work, learn about the country's culturally rich textiles, and take a few photographs for artist Matthew Conboy's "Start With Art" project. Start With Art is a program to promote artists in the Pittsburgh region and build a culture of collecting by gifting original, signed photographs from local photographers and artists to newborn babies. For the entirety of 2015, every baby born at The Midwife Center for Birth and Women's Health, St. Clair Hospital, and UPMC Mercy will begin life as an art collector.

Solo Shows • Pittsburgh Center for the Arts & Jeffrey Smith Salon

I have two shows that will be on view this February. My bow & arrow sewing performance will be on view at the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts. The exhibition opening will take place on February 13. New collaborations with Kara Skylling will also be on display.

I currently have about 30 new artworks on display at Jeffrey Smith Salon's new studio in Highland Park. More details soon as to when we'll be throwing a BIG party to celebrate Jeffrey's incredible opening.
