Delta Systems at Pack Expo 2013

Delta Systems & Automation Inc, the Rogers AR based subsidiary of the Swiss based Ilapak Group has deployed multiple automated product handling and wrapping systems to the global food industry that have incorporated the latest designs in easy maintenance and quick sanitation. Visitors to the stand will be able to inspect a system composed of a Delta Systems Eagle flow wrapper fed by CM-OPM robots linked to an Ilapak Cayenne Cartoner.
The system on display at Pack Expo 2013

The CM-OPM FAST PICKER CELL consists of two CM-OPM FAST PICKER ROBOTS that, thanks to its integrated vision system, pick up products which arrive randomly on a conveyor belt, arranging them on a six-count product.

Receiving product from the CM-OPM Fast Picker Robots is the Delta Systems Eagle Flow Wrapper.  The Delta Eagle has an integrated servo driven infeed that allows the robots to collate the six count product into groups which are then ready to be wrapped.  The infeed receives the product and carries the product into the wrapper while maintaining stack integrity.  Integrated into this infeed are low count and misplaced product sensors to ensure that the correct collation has been delivered. The Delta Eagle wraps the collated products utilizing servo drives for film drive control, fin wheel control and end seal jaw control that produce a tightly finished wrap. The wrapped collation of product is fed from the discharge of the wrapper on a transfer conveyor to the infeed of the Ilapak Cayenne Cartoner.

At the Ilapak Cayenne cartoner loading station, a photo eye detects the arrival of the product as it is loaded into the waiting infeed bucket of the cartoner. After the product is loaded into the infeed bucket, the cartoner automatically indexes one pitch and then waits for the arrival of the next product.  This cycle is repeated until all the packaging is complete.
The Ilapak Cayenne cartoner is also equipped with an end of production “run out sequence” which will carton all the remaining products that are still in the infeed of the machine.
