Dear Eco Champ
Our Bay has a voice through your Port Phillip Baykeeper Neil Blake OAM.
They're tricky to spot when we swim, surf and sail, but microplastics and nurdles are clogging up our precious Port Phillip Bay and threatening our wildlife. Melbourne's beautiful waterways are home to more endemic species than the Great Barrier Reef ... but steadily becoming a contaminated soup of single-use plastic particles.
Plastic is pervasive, persistent, polluting and poisonous in our Bay and food chain.
Since 2009, the Baykeeper team partners with community, government, researchers, schools and business. Collectively we protect our Bay, our waterways, wildlife and neighbours. We stand alongside worldwide Waterkeepers for swimmable, drinkable, fishable waters. We gather solid data to guide planning, train young people to protect Bay habitat, and ensure everyday decisions in our 'burbs positively impact the Bay.
Your gift helps the Baykeeper unclog our Bay
Our plan includes positive interventions with industry, consumers, and legislators. We work to directly remove litter AND trace it backwards to stop it at the source.
2017 is an important year for Port Phillip Baykeeper's lifesaving work as government authorities set new forward commitments for our Bay and healthy waterways.
We wouldn't tolerate an oil spill, so why do we allow plasticised-oil to choke our ecosystems? Your gift will support a range of Baykeeper initiatives.
