Howzat! Boronia Park Cricket nets

Last year Hilltop Northern Villages Cricket Club (HNVCC) submitted a grant application to the NSW Government’s Regional Sport Facility Fund to upgrade the cricket nets at Boronia Park in Hill Top.

Works started earlier this year and we’re excited to share some progress photos with you. The practice nets are nearing completion with synthetic turf and nets due for installation any day now. The facility is expected to open to the public in early October - ready for the summer cricket season.

Congratulations to everyone involved!

Outdoor training nets enable both batsmen and bowlers to develop their skills and technique and can significantly improve safety during training sessions.

Playground renewal update

Late last year we asked for your feedback on proposed upgrades for two playgrounds, Cook Street Park in Mittagong and Church Road Oval in Moss Vale.

A construction tender was released in February and unfortunately, we didn’t receive any submissions within the allocated budget.

Keeping in mind your feedback, we’ve reworked the designs to better align with market conditions. View the revised designs here.

A new tender is expected to be released shortly with construction expected to commence in mid-2023.

Free HSC Study Sessions

Studying for the HSC is daunting to say the least, but we’re here to lend a hand.

From Tuesday 4 October, Bowral and Moss Vale libraries will open their doors for six days of supervised study, snacks and puppy cuddles to help students get exam ready.

We’ve even organised a FREE study show bag for the first 100 students!

Study sessions will run on weekdays from Tuesday 4 October to Tuesday 11 October between 9.30 am and 4.30 pm.

Watch out – trains about!

The Moss Vale to Unanderra train line is re-opening and normal services are resuming from 12 pm on Tuesday 4 October.

The Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) closed the line in March 2022 after it was severely impacted by heavy rain.

To prepare, track machines have been running daily from Moss Vale to Unanderra. Some ad-hoc trains may commence running from Saturday 1 October with normal freight services resuming from Tuesday 4 October.

Railway level crossings can be dangerous. Trains are fast and heavy and cannot stop quickly.

It’s easy to be lulled into a false sense of security when there has been little train activity for a while. When approaching a level crossing, always slow down and look and listen for trains.

Bowral Memorial Hall to retain name

On Wednesday evening Council’s Administrator adopted a report recommending that Bowral Memorial Hall retain its current name.

The report followed a request to Council to consider a change of name of the historic building whilst it undergoes refurbishment works.

A short survey was subsequently placed on our online consultation hub, ‘Your Say Wingecarribee’, with a majority of respondents telling us they didn’t want to see a change in name.

All told over 1,200 responses were received with 88% of replies preferring we keep hold of the current name.

Thank you to everyone who took part in the survey.

Calling all NSW volunteers to have their say

The NSW Government is calling for volunteers across NSW to have their say as part of the Ministerial Volunteer Taskforce.

Minister for Families and Communities and Minister for Disability Services Natasha Maclaren-Jones established the Ministerial Volunteer Taskforce to identify emerging trends, issues and opportunities across the sector.

If you’re a volunteer making a contribution in NSW, either formally with an organisation, or informally in your community, the Taskforce would like to hear from you.

Have your say by 5 pm next Friday 30 September.
