Saludos de Santiago!
The first week of our Summer Cuba Dance Study Trip has been amazing. We started in Guantánamo, where we danced to live Changüí and Tumba Francesa. Then we went to Santiago for the Fiesta del Fuego, where Ryan performed with the All Stars for the Inaugural Gala (which was broadcast live on YouTube — click for a video). As part of the festival, we danced to some great live son music and heard an amazing free outdoor concert yesterday by Maykel Blanco y Su Salsa Mayor. Tonight we’re off to see Santiago’s most famous dance band Septeto Santiaguero at La Pachanga with the All Stars. And of course we’ve been loving our daily dance study with Companía All Stars. We’ve learned lots of great new moves that we’ll be bringing back to the Bay Area — our Cuba Review Workshops are Saturday, July 20th in Oakland at The Working Body (click here to get the pre-registration discount).
Sidney (Level 4), Alex (Level 3), Cristina (Level 2/1), Bobbi, (Level 1 @ 7:30pm), and Michael (Level 2 @ 8:30pm) will be teaching our Friday Cuban Salsa & Rueda Classes ODC tonight. Then Salsa Sunday is ON this weekend — Sidney is teaching the Salsa Workout at 1pm and Alex is teaching the 2:30 and 3:30pm Rueda classes.
Monday Oakland Classes on July 8th will be taught by Ernest (Level 4), Alex (Level 3/1), Bret (Level 1/3), and Laura (Level 2).
We ARE still planning on leading a Cuba Dance Study Trip in December. Stay tuned for more details.
