Gardner Museum Fellowship in Landscape Studies
The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum is seeking a talented designer to hold the inaugural Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum Fellowship in Landscape Studies in 2012.

The new biennial Gardner Museum Fellowship in Landscape Studies will be awarded to an emerging design talent whose work articulates the potential for landscape as a medium of design in the public realm. This new initiative is intended to recognize and foster emerging design talent from across the design disciplines whose work embodies the potentials for landscape as a medium of public works. The Gardner Museum Landscape Fellowship builds upon the Gardner's Artist-in-Residence programs that have fostered creativity and collaboration in the arts for over two decades.

The rich cultural, artistic and academic setting offered by the Museum and the Boston area has long been a source of inspiration. The Gardner Museum Landscape Fellowship represents a singular opportunity for creative exploration and interaction with a vibrant, active landscape community.

The Gardner Museum Fellow will be in residence in a Renzo Piano-designed apartment at the Museum for three months during the summer of 2012. A public event centering on a discussion of their work is scheduled for the evening of June 7, 2012. The Gardner Museum Fellow will be introduced to a range of local cultural and educational institutions with the intent of fostering collaborations and engagements to enrich the period of study.

Eligibility
Landscape architects and designers from a range of allied design professions including architecture, engineering, urban design and planning, as well as the horticultural and garden arts, who can demonstrate a significant engagement with the landscape medium are invited to apply. The Gardner Museum Fellow will be selected by jury of internationally acclaimed landscape architects and educators based upon a portfolio review of design work exemplifying the potential of landscape as a medium of design for the public realm.
