We are so pleased and grateful that the doors of the SWS on Granville Island are still open every day but we really miss the chance to chat to so many of our community who aren’t able to pop in. We have so much news to share - even a new YouTube channel! So we have put together this update.
The whole team is so grateful to everyone who has made it to GI or has supported us on line: we absolutely would not be here without you. We miss hearing about your projects too so please drop us a line or tag us in posts about your projects: we would love to know how you are getting on.
As a small token of appreciation we are continuing to offer 20% all our scarves, shawls and garments in the store and at the online shop.
To keep you across all that is new and glorious in the world of yarns and fibres that our ‘sister’ Sanjo Silk is offering a monthly newsletter. They have so many lovely silks to tempt and inspire your own creations and also details of ‘specials’. Just follow this link to sign up:
To celebrate the creativity of our home town we are joining in with Crafted Vancouver; with a mini exhibit "Woven Together". Watch our events page and look out for details of all the shows and the makers taking part in this great event in May 2021.
We are planning to start our popular in person rigid heddle courses again in June. Details will be posted soon. Also, Kim McKenna continues to offer fascinating spinning courses on Zoom. The April and May classes are sold out. Two new workshops will be offred in June.….. here is a link for the details as they become available of what is covered and how to join.
AND we have a new Youtube channel. We have made videos introducing Sanjo and the SWS and some ‘tips and tricks’ to share our techniques and ideas. We will keep adding new ones as we make them. Check it out: it is a fun way to visit the studio. Silk Weaving Studio and Sanjo Silk Youtube channel.
So with your generosity, as well as the support you have given our spirits with your kind emails, likes, shares, ‘hearts and tags’, and encouraging comments the team at SWS are here and bursting with new ideas and work to share.
Our handmade masks are available in the store.
Made of hand dyed silk linen fabric, they are comfortable and fit well.
And last but not least......
The Silk Weaving Studio is celebrating it's 35th anniversary this week.
Little did we know when we opened as Diana Sanderson Studio in1986 how things would evolve and grow.
Looking forward to the years ahead.
