Monochrome :: Black & White
Our studio window has transitioned from "Winter White" to "Black & White" as we explore the theme of monochrome. The close-ups below showcase different designs and a variety of details achieved with the use of black & white yarns.

The Ann Sutton Collection

In 2013, Diana Sanderson acquired the Ann Sutton Collection of Junichi Arai and Nuno with the promise that it would be made available for viewing to anyone interested.  One piece of the collection is always on display in the studio along with some information, and this month Darlene Ochotta selected a black & white piece.

History Highlights

The month of March highlights the 36th anniversary of the studio, which opened its door during Expo'86.  Now fast forward 25 years for a bit of history ....
In 2011, the studio celebrated its 25th anniversary with a group show called Silk & Silver that featured both of these irresistible materials.
In 2010 & 2011, the focus at the studio turned to geometric designs and double weave structures.  The explorations of variable shrinkage with silk and silk/wool yarns was studied with excitement.

The year 2010 also marks the beginning of a long collaboration between Maiwa and the studio. A sold out luncheon and fashion was organized at the Sand Bar.

The Ocelot Exhibition at the studio featured the work of  Angelina de Antonis while Maiwa offered Itajame workshops.
Did You Know ... the female bombyx mori moth lays approximately 500 eggs and one egg is about the size of an ink dot or poppy seed.
