Forks Up, It's Time to Feast

Last call!
Speaker SeriesIt's the final countdown. At this moment, venues are being staged, attendees and participants from around the country are flying in, and we are just over 24 hours away from our kickoff event, Sandwich Invitational! We are thrilled to say that Feast Portland 2013 is sold out of almost every event at this point, but if you are a last minute planner, it's not too late to get in on the action!

In the the midst of fueling your body with the best of Oregon’s bounty, fuel your mind with the tantalizing talks of the Whole Foods Market Speaker Series. Hear from local and national leaders in the industry as they speak on topics like how Food Will Define the Future of Healthcare, The American Experience Through Food, Transparency and the GMOS: The More You Know, The Better, Beat the Devil: Create an Awesome Food Business Without Selling Your Soul, and ultimately why Portland Matters and how it became a must-taste city with serious culinary cred. Each Speaker Series event is only 10$ per person and is open to all ages.

Tasting PanelsWhether you're a brewing buff or devoted to vino there is a Feast Portland Tasting Panel for any palate looking to expand their horizons. Beer fans can taste-test their knowledge at Beer Breakdown or learn how to match the perfect whiskey and beer combo in Baby Got Beer-Back, while wine lovers can experience how to pair a fantastic white wine with delicious Oregon seafood in White Wines and the Shore Line. Still undecided on whether you side with the hops or the vines? Come to Wine vs. Beer: The Rematch where you can enjoy the best of both worlds along with a variety of tasty bites.

Oregon Bounty Grand TastingThere are also still tickets left to both Friday and Saturday Oregon Bounty Grand Tasting Presented by Alaska Airlines where you will taste world class wines that came from Oregon soil, beer brewed by the best in the state, and of course a huge selection of food from skilled artisans and chefs - served on sustainable, durable and beautiful VerTerra dinnerware. Remember, a ticket to a Feast Portland event is inclusive of all food and drink served at that event, so you'll never need to miss a single flavor.

We Feast For A Cause
All net proceeds from Feast Portland 2013 benefit our charitable partners Share Our Strength and Partners for a Hunger-Free Oregon. Last year, we were able to contribute $46,000 to their efforts, and this year we plan to match, if not exceed that number.

Share Our StrengthShare Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry® campaign is ending childhood hunger in America by ensuring all children get the healthy food they need, every day. This month many of our chefs and participants in Feast will Go Orange for No Kid Hungry, an effort representing an unprecedented mobilization of the restaurant industry to collectively support ending childhood hunger. Over the past five years, restaurants have raised approximately $10 million, which has supported No Kid Hungry’s recent accomplishments, including connecting kids to 34 million additional meals since the summer of 2011.

Partners For A Hunger-Free OregonFeast Portland is also working with Partners for a Hunger-Free Oregon, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to raising awareness about hunger, connecting people to nutrition programs, and advocating for systemic changes that end hunger before it begins. As a No Kid Hungry® Ally, Partners for a Hunger-Free Oregon is working to fight childhood hunger through connecting more children to out-of-school-time nutrition programs.

If you're inspired to learn more about how you can help end childhood hunger, join anti-hunger leaders as they share their vision in Speaker Series Hunger Bites, Let’s End It. The talk will highlight the power and effectiveness of partnership, advocacy and funding, and discuss how we can make childhood hunger a thing of the past in Oregon, and across the nation.
