...serving at Morrison Academy -- Taichung, Taiwan
This is the drawing the doctor gave us showing the problem with Beckie's heart. We are looking at doing a surgery to remove the old lead and reposition the new lead so they don't interfere with the tricuspid valve.

Beckie's mom is recovering at Hillsboro Rehabilitation Center after a reaction to the antiviral medication she took to treat shingles. She is getting better.

We made a trip to visit friends in Washington, including the Harrisons who served with us in Taiwan for years.

Would you rather be run over by a truck or it's shadow?

Dear <<First Name>>,
I lived in Frank Dobra's house with a bunch of guys not long after I moved to Hillsboro. At the time, he was a missionary in Kenya. He was a delightful man and visiting with him was always a wonderful experience. We attended his memorial last month and the following was printed in the program, which I thought it was worth passing on:

Donald Grey Barnhouse, a famous bible teacher from the 1950's, lost his wife to cancer when she was in her thirties. On the way to the funeral, his oldest daughter asked him, “If Jesus died for our sins why do we still die?”

At that moment a large truck roared past them. Barnhouse turned to his daughter and asked, “Tell me, sweetheart, would you rather be run over by that truck or its shadow?”

“By the shadow,” she replied, “it can’t hurt you.”

Barnhouse nodded and said, “Did you know that the truck of death ran over the Lord Jesus in order that only its shadow might run over us? Your mother has not been overrun by death, but by the shadow of death. That is nothing to fear.”

“I am the resurrection and the life,” Jesus told us, “He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.” (John 11:24) Christians hold fast to this promise.

That’s why everyone who calls Christ their Savior can say, “O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory? The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”  (1 Cor. 15:55-57)

Pray for:

  • Beckie's trip to help Leah and David when their third son is born. She will be in LA from April 23 to May 19.
  • Scheduling and success for Beckie's lead revision surgery before we head back to Taiwan.
  • Continued recovery for Dwight's mom who broke her hip and Beckie's mom recovering from complications from shingles.
  • Us to be fully supported in time to leave for Taiwan in June.  This will be our last term with Morrison. (We are about $1000/month short of being fully supported.)

Thanks for your continued prayers, support and encouragement!
