Dear <<First Name>>,
Taiwan had a major earthquake this morning and several people have asked how we are doing. I created a map to show the relative distance between us and the quake. If you put Taiwan over the Willamette valley, our home would be near Corvallis and the epicenter would be east of Roseburg in the foothills of the Cascades.
Katrina Lao Shaffner, a Morrison graduate serving as a teacher on our Kaohsiung campus, gave a report on the BBC. Her report is in the second video of the article.
- 2 students did sign up for Dwight's second semester AV class. There are now enough students to continue teaching the class. Dwight is also starting a club to equip students to fix common tech problems that crop up in classes. The AV class did a video to promote the club. (The science clip in the video that fails is from a real video used by the teacher.)
- Beckie's tricuspid valve still isn't working right. The doctor reported the good news that nothing has gotten any worse and there aren't any major symptoms at this time. The bad news is that an open heart surgery is still a real possibility in the future.
- Our trip to the US for Christmas break was a wonderful treat especially the week our whole family was together. We just bought our tickets for this summer. We return to Portland on June 16 and then back to Taiwan on July 21.
- God's continued provision for our financial needs. This will be our last term (2 to 4 years) with Morrison Academy. (We are $875/month short of being fully supported.)
Thanks for your continued prayers, support and encouragement!
Dwight and Beckie
