Jantelagen - The Law of Jante

"You're not to think you are anything special, you're not to think you are smarter than we are and you're not to think you are more important than we are." - Jantelagen, Wikipedia.

These are three of the ten rules that makes the Law of Jante (Swedish: Jantelagen) according to Aksel Sandemose who wrote the book "A Fugitive Crosses His Tracks” in 1933. These laws marks' the Scandinavians infamous way of thinking about one and others success and career. The Jante Law is a central cultural concept and a crucial part of how the Swedes view life. So if you are to deal with a Swede - be sure to learn more about the "Jante" here.

Podcast - A Steady Growing Medium

It's been said that there are only three solid forms of expression; the written word, the still picture and the vocal word/sound. With these ways of expression, you can create everything from motion pictures to magazines and apps in order to communicate a message. Sometimes the particular medium combines these three, which is the case for platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and online magazines. But sometimes you only have to focus your attention on one of these. This is the case for the Podcast. And maybe that is the reason for its success through the last years? You only have to listen to the voice that's speaking, you don't have to press the like button or share anything. You just have to sit back, relax and listen.

This year, the podcast celebrates 10 years in iTunes. Get the podcast app from iTunes right here & check out the Telegraph's pick for the top ten podcasts here.

Zlatan's Version of the Swedish National Anthem Goes Gold

"The Malmö-born star released his own spoken-word version of Sweden's national anthem 'Du Gamla, Du Fria' last year in collaboration with Volvo and with the help of his friend, music producer Max Martin. It seems that Swedes have rushed to listen to the alternative arrangement, with Ibrahimovic invited to accept a gold disc on Monday, in recognition of the number of times it has been streamed."

"My Gold Record Award for 3,000,000 Swedish streams of my version of the National anthem," the footballer wrote on Instagram, beneath a photo of him holding a framed poster celebrating his success. "Rumour has it that it’s the most streamed national anthem ever… Either way, it’s pretty cool," he added.

Northern Lights Astound Swedish Skies

Last week Swedes across the whole country captured breathtaking snaps of the Northern Lights as the spectacular weather lit up the skies last week. It has rarely been as fantastic as last week and the phenomenon was visible all the way down in southern SkÃ¥ne.

The Northern Lights, or aurora borealis, are a famous feature of Scandinavian autumn and winter nights, but they can prove difficult to spot. It is usually only visible in northern parts of the Nordic country, but last week night-sky gazers as far south as Malmö reported seeing the spectacle, according to regional newspaper Sydsvenskan.

"Captain Zlatan Ibrahimovic's 24th minute strike and an Erkan Zengin marker just after half-time was enough to guarantee maximum points for Erik Hamren's side and improved their record to five wins, three draws and two defeats. That means 1992 Euro semi-finalists Sweden, who have not missed the knock-out stages since Euro 96 in England, must now negotiate a two-legged play-off against a yet-to-be determined opponent."

Harvard Business Review recently ranked the 100 best-performing CEOs in the world. Out of one hundred bosses ranked, three Swedes managed to claim a spot on the list: Michael Wolf of Swedbank landed the ninth spot, Lars Renström of Alfa Laval was ranked 48th and Johan Molin of Assa Abloy took the 52nd spot. The ranking took into account areas such as environment, social responsibility and governance, whereas in previous years the magazine has only based it on so-called ”hard numbers”.
