More about Merry Hell

g with keyboard player, Lee Goulding and drummer Andy Jones, the addition of keys and vocalist, Virginia Kettle has helped create a new identity, purpose and spirit, in their music. She took little persuading to trade in her solo singer-songwriter past for a future in the band. Her prolific, ingenious and insightful song writing is one of the focal points of Merry Hell's recordings and live performances – her presence has perfectly complemented a group which has taken particular pride in penning originals.Emerging from the ashes of festival favourites, punk folk band Tansads, Merry Hell retains a nucleus of brothers John, Bob and Andrew Kettle (guitar, mandolin and vocals respectively), alon

Merry Hell have a growing fan base, great reviews for live shows, and their albums "Blink... and You'll Miss It", "Head Full of Magic, Shoes Full of Rain", plus previous offering "The Ghost In Our House and other Stories" received rave reviews in the music press, with all three getting five star reviews. The brand new album "Bloodlines" (released 1st November 2016) is chock full of more Merry Hell magic as they continue to win over fans old and new with their infectious brand of modern folk rock.

Note to editors

Liverpool Acoustic is the only website of its kind in the UK. It was created by Graham Holland in April 2008 as a central resource for the vibrant and exciting acoustic music scene in Liverpool and the Greater Merseyside area. It contains a diary of acoustic events including festivals, theatre concerts and folk clubs to showcases and open mic nights. The postings to the website (also available as a free email subscription) include news, previews for upcoming events, and reviews of music releases and gigs.

Liverpool Acoustic Live is a double award winning monthly acoustic music event run jointly by Graham Holland and local musician Stuart Todd, as a natural spin-off from the website. Each night features three or four of the best acoustic performers, singer-songwriters, bands and musicians on the local scene today performing alongside top-class national and international musicians.

Liverpool Acoustic Open Mic @ The Baltic Social is our weekly event featuring open mic with a selection of booked acts. Liverpool Acoustic eXtraLiverpool Acoustic PresentsLiverpool Acoustic Garden, and Liverpool Acoustic Afternoon are occasional live music events, often run in collaboration with other local promoters and events.
