Dear VCH Co-Harvesters,

We are living in changing times. The world is in confusion and chaos due to the worldwide Covid pandemic. This chaos has caused uncertainty in many areas of life: in our work schedule, our job stability, our health situation, our current finances and economic plans, our children’s schooling and education, our business, ministry, and in many of our present and future plans. Many times in our life we have probably asked God, “Lord, what is your will for my life? What do you want me to do with my life? And Lord, What should I do now?” Throughout life and especially now we need to ask, “Should I do this or that? Do I buy this or not? Is it your will that I start this project now?” More than ever before, I am hearing the Lord tell us to pray, “LORD, in 2021, YOUR WILL BE DONE!

”Sometimes we are focused only on our own will. We are focused on our own plans, our own ways, our own wants, our own desires, and sometimes we are not focused on God’s will. Many times our own will and way of doing something leads us into difficulties. Sometimes my own will gets in God’s way. Sometimes other people’s will can distract me. We must be totally surrendered to God. In Matthew 7:21, Jesus said, “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter.”

When we truly surrender our all to Christ, our desire must be His will in every area of our lives! We must pray, “Lord, what is your will in this matter? Help me to do your will.”

In 2021, we need to ask for God‘s will, direction and guidance in the details of our life!
Many do whatever seems good to them. An elder lawyer was arguing with the other church elders at a business meeting. One of the younger pastors, who was listening to the elders arguing said, “Well, what is the will of God in all of this?” The lawyer said, “Leave God out of this, this is business that we must take care of!” The young pastor asked, “How can you leave God out of God’s business? ”

A definition of God’s will is that which God approves of in His word and what He determines to bring about, concerning what we should do and what not to do.
When was the last time you asked God what His will was concerning: a direction in your life, your job or position, your future, your finances, your wife or your husband, children, buying something - a car or a house, direction in your business or ministry? Everyday, we need to ask God to give us direction concerning His will. God has the best plan and future for your life. God’s will is perfect for your life. God is omniscient. He knows all things and has perfect blueprints for your life and for those you love. You are equipped for something good. You were created for something good. How do we find God’s will?

There’s three ways to find God’s will:
1. God has given you logic and reason.
2. God has given you His Holy Spirit.
3. God has given you His Word.
1. God has given us logic and reason.
God has given us thoughts and ideas to figure things out. The word of God says that we are created in His image and in His likeness. He has given us intelligence and imagination and has placed desires, gifts and talents in our heart to do things and to seek after certain interests. Some people have a desire to be an engineer. Others have a desire to be a contractor, electrician, or a plumber. Some have a desire to be a nurse or a doctor, or a teacher. Others feel talented and gifted to be a businessman, a businesswoman, a farmer or a rancher, or an entrepreneur. Some people have a desire to be a minister. Other people have a desire to be a - (whatever.) As we go through life, we have interests and desires in certain areas more than in others which are God given and can help lead us to find God’s will for our life.
2. God has given us His Holy Spirit. When we become born again, we receive God’s Spirit. As we continue to seek to be full of the Holy Spirit, He will give us discernment. When you desire to do things, you not only think about them logically, but you can feel something inside of you. You feel something in your spirit whether it’s right or wrong. Whether it’s the right thing or not and whether it’s a good thing or the best thing. Have you ever been doing something and inside of you, you sense that it’s not the right thing to be doing? That’s spiritual discernment at work in you. Sometimes your logical mind looks at a job offer that looks great, but inside of you there is a lack of peace. Romans 8:14 says that those who are led by the Spirit of God, these are the sons of God. Have you ever done something and asked God to lead you and guide you so that it comes out right and then it turns out great? That’s what God wants in our life! As we spend more time with the Lord, we recognize His voice more and more. We know His will as He speaks to us and we are instructed by the still small voice that is teaching us the right way to go.
Jeremiah 29:11-13 says, “I know the plans that I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for the good and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope. Then you’ll call upon Me and seek Me and search for Me with all of your heart and I will be found by you declares the Lord.”
As we seek God, He will continually direct our steps and instruct us which direction to take and which choice is better. He will lead us as to which option is the best one for our lives as we follow the peace of God in our hearts. We’ve been created for the purpose that God’s will would be done in every area of our life. As born again Christian believers, we have the heart of our Lord and the mind of Christ and we have God’s Holy Spirit in us to guide us.

3. God has given us His Word.
The third way to know God’s will is through the Word of God. God’s Word is God’s will and God’s will is God’s Word. This is one of the best ways to know the will of God. As we spend time daily in God’s Word, we can apply specific verses to our life and reflect on what God wants. We need to pray God’s Word over our lives because it is God’s will. Find a verse for your situation or need and apply it to your circumstance by praying God’s Word specifically over the details in your life.
Here are some key verses:
We should pray this every day, that God‘s kingdom will come and that His will would be done on earth as it is in heaven!

“Pray, then, in this way: ‘Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven….” Matthew 6:9-10

“For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up on the last day.” John 6:40

“And this is the will of God, that I should not lose even one of all those He has given Me, but that I should raise them up at the last day.” John 6:39

Salvation and sanctification, being set apart, is God’s will for everyone!
“Jesus answered and said to them “For the sorrow (remorse) that is according to the will of God produces a repentance without regret, leading to salvation, but the sorrow (outward remorse) of the world produces death.” 2 Corinthians 7:10

“Sanctify them in the truth [set them apart for Your purposes, make them holy]; Your word is truth. Just as You commissioned and sent Me into the world, I also have commissioned and sent them (believers) into the world. For their sake I sanctify Myself [to do Your will], so that they also may be sanctified [set apart, dedicated, made holy] in [Your] truth. I do not pray for these alone [it is not for their sake only that I make this request], but also for [all] those who [will ever] believe and trust in Me through their message, that they all may be one; just as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be one in Us, so that the world may believe [without any doubt] that You sent Me.” John 17:17-21(Amplified version)

“Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you through and through [that is, separate you from profane and vulgar things, make you pure and whole and undamaged—consecrated to Him—set apart for His purpose]; and may your spirit and soul and body be kept complete and [be found] blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful and absolutely trustworthy is He who is calling you [to Himself for your salvation], and He will do it [He will fulfill His call by making you holy, guarding you, watching over you, and protecting you as His own].” 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 Amp

“Beloved, I urge you as aliens and strangers to abstain from fleshly lusts which wage war against the soul. Keep your behavior excellent among the Gentiles, so that in the thing in which they slander you as evildoers, they may because of your good deeds, as they observe them, glorify God in the day of visitation. Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every human institution, whether to a king as the one in authority, or to governors as sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and the praise of those who do right. For such is the will of God that by doing right you may silence the ignorance of foolish men.” 1  Peter 2:11-15

In these days and times that we are living, we need God’s faithful Word and peace to lead us and guide us, to guard and protect us like never before!
You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you! Trust in the Lord always, for the Lord God is the eternal Rock. Isaiah 26:3-4

The prophet Isaiah declared that God’s Word will accomplish great things in our life according to God’s will!

“So will My Word be, which goes out of My mouth; It will not return to Me void (useless, without result), Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.” Isaiah 55:11

In 2021, may God’s will be done in you, your marriage, your family, your work, your business, your ministry, your finances and health, and in all of the lives around you! We pray in Jesus’ name for His kingdom to come and His will to be done in your life in 2021!
