Elsewhere's QueerLab launches I Don't Do Boxes

QueerLab launches I Don’t Do Boxes: your source for queer stories and news from the southeast

This spring, Elsewhere, YouthSAFE, and Guilford Green launch QueerLab: a project to create I Don’t Do Boxes, a magazine gathering stories, artworks and media from LGBTQ-identifying youth in the southeast. QueerLab will meet Thursdays from 6-8pm, (March 14 - June 6) at Elsewhere in downtown Greensboro. We would like to invite you to join us for QueerLab and the production of our first issue.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

QueerLab kicks off Thursday, February 21st, 7pm at Higher Ground (210 East Bessemer Ave, GSO) where we’ll introduce the project and welcome an editorial board of youth and community members. If you can’t make it, you can join the project as a foreign correspondent, editorial mentor or storyteller. Drop by Elsewhere on Thursdays this spring or join the production team!

SUPPORT

QueerLab is a collaboration between YouthSAFE, a community-based group of LGBTQIA youth in Guilford County and Elsewhere’s CoLab program, a youth-led platform for digital storytelling. Funding for QueerLab is provided in part by the Guilford Green Foundation.

To show your support visit the Ackland Museum Store for 99 Books About Love, a project about shelving, sharing and second-hands, collecting 99 books from people all over North Carolina that explore love in its many forms. Proceeds from each sale will help support QueerLab. On Thursday, February 14 (4 - 8:30pm), join artist Stacy Kirby at the Ackland Museum Store for VALIDnation, a performative interaction with the public about civil rights and the validity of all communities in the United States.

Elsewhere is funded in part by The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, The North Carolina Arts Council, the United Arts Council of Greater Greensboro, the Future Fund of the Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro, the Elizabeth Firestone Graham Foundation, the Kresge Foundation, Tannenbaum Sternberger Foundation, Guilford Green Foundation, the Harpo Foundation & friends like you.
