After losing his Rochester home to Arson, Douglass sailed for Europe and Africa in search of democracy and equality. Verdis Robinson, Public Scholar, will help us explore Douglass' own words written in a diary kept during the voyage. Though his travels left him discouraged as he witnessed the global reach of racism, Douglass' activism inspired a new generation to fight for equality.
