Modernizing the Rules of Golf

On March 1st, the USGA and The R&A unveiled a preview of proposed changes to the Rules of Golf. This is a major revision and is part of a joint initiative to modernize the Rules and make them easier to understand and apply. The potential changes are open to the public for comment until August 31st of this year.  Click the button below to read about the proposed changes and submit your feedback.  The rules changes will be  finalized in early 2018 and will go into effect January 1, 2019.

Support Phoenix Public Schools

The Orthopedic Clinical Association (TOCA) Foundation is hosting the 1st Annual TOCA Charity Golf Tournament on April 27th at ASU Karsten in Tempe.  The event will benefit Phoenix Public Schools with proceeds going towards the math and science departments.  Your participation in the event can help provide our local students the tools to compete in a global future.  A $150 donation includes golf, prizes, welcome gifts, a silent auction, breakfast and lunch.  Click below for registration.

Upcoming Handicap Seminar

The Handicap Department is heading to Tucson for the next Handicap Seminar on Tuesday, March 21st at the Gallery Golf Club.  We encourage our southern clubs to send their Handicap Committees to this free seminar. We will cover items that will assist club administrators in the application of the rules of handicapping - topics such as when to post scores, responsibilities of the Handicap Committee, playing from different tees, handicap index calculation. handicap reduction due to exceptional tournament play and much, much more. Bring your questions and get answers from the experts.

Registration is 8:30am - 9:00am and the seminar is 9:00am - 12:30pm.

Mickelson & Papago Golf Course

Phil Mickelson is taking part in some exciting new changes happening at Papago Golf Course in Phoenix!  Arizona State University is working with the Arizona Golf Community Foundation and the City of Phoenix to revive a landmark golf course primed for resurgence.  Mickelson, who designed the ASU practice facility at Papago said “Arizona State’s facility is going to be home to the single-greatest short game training space in the country,”

The investment in Papago Golf Course will have a resounding effect on both the local community and ASU golf programs.  Click on the video below to learn more!
