The Downtown BID Clean Team has reported residential garbage being put in our street trash cans, causing them to fill up too quickly. We encourage you to be a good neighbor and only dispose of items in your building's residential containers. Dumping residential garbage in street trash cans puts a strain on our hardworking Clean Team and City of Albany Department of General Services workers. DGS will charge a minimum $145 fine to any party responsible for dumping residential trash in street containers.
The City of Albany reminds you to complete the 2020 census before the September 30 deadline. Census results determine how more than $675 billion in federal funding is shared across the nation for programs like Head Start, School Breakfast & Lunch Programs, and Housing Repair Grants, as well as how Congressional districts, school districts, and city wards are drawn, and how sales tax revenue is shared. Learn more here.

The City of Albany recently launched, a new interactive neighborhood portal designed to provide residents with a convenient source of information on quality of life services in Albany. Peruse frequently asked questions, request certain City services, sign up for the City’s Department of General Services programs, and lend your opinions regarding ideas and data collections pertaining to DGS.
