Dear FCC Family:
Having just returned from the Fellowship of Christian Cowboys’ May Board of Directors meeting where we completed our summer ministry planning and goals. I am so excited about the direction and vision of the ministry. Let me share a few of those items with you:
- God continues to open doors of opportunity into the youth rodeo associations so FCC can continue and expand the amazing ministry work to those young contestants and their families.
- We are close to being ready to print a new edition of “The Way for Cowboys,” FCC’s popular pocket New Testament Bible.
- We are also progressing in our task of producing and publishing an FCC, cowboy-themed, full Bible and should be ready to go to print as soon we can completely raise the funds for the first publication run.
- And, we are continuing the development of an FCC chaplaincy program.
All of these areas of focus allow us to meet the ministry needs of the western and rodeo population across the country and beyond.
As President, I would also like to take this opportunity to recognize and thank one of FCC’s co-founders and long-time Board Members, Ms. Lynne Schricker, for her decades of service to the ministry. Not only were Lynne and her late husband Mark, instrumental to the start and longevity of the ministry, but Lynne has long served as the editor of the “Line Rider,” FCC’s official newsletter publication. Lynne has always been very active and has enjoyed traveling, making her responsibilities to the publication more and more difficult. So in May, Lynne submitted her resignation as Line Rider editor. The entire FCC Board thanks her for her years of service and sacrifice to the ministry that we know she loves so dearly.
In the future, the Line Rider will continue to be FCC’s newsletter, but due to rising printing costs, the Board has decided to now send it electronically. This allows us to send articles and devotionals more frequently, to more readers, and to incorporate those items into our social media platforms. It also allows us to use the publication dollars that we were spending, to print more Bibles and expand vital youth ministries. We know some will be disappointed, but we hope you will understand. Subscribers to the new format will receive easy-to-read articles, devotionals, and ministry information that they’ll be able to quickly access, by e-mail from their computer, tablet, or cell phone. If we don’t have your email address or you have family or friends who would enjoy receiving our articles, please call or email the national FCC office and we’ll be happy to add you to our list.
On behalf of FCC and the Board of Directors, thank you for your continued support of the ministries of FCC and may God Bless and keep you!
Reese W. Shay, President
