We are currently blessed with having lovely, warm weather and the energy to enjoy it.  Peace reigns again after the busy summer months and life is back to normal. I, for one, so appreciate living in a peaceful area and having less stress in my life. My son, Ben, sent me an article stating that people are happiest at age 58 and most miserable when they are 35. Most 35-year olds are stressed out due to the pressures of having children and a demanding job. I’m sure most of our members can relate to that..... and I’m sure most of the “oldies” like me can sympathise and acknowledge there are some benefits in being “old”!
One of the things I talk about in the PMA workshops is living in the moment – and that applies to us, whatever our age.  The more we can try to do that, the easier life becomes.  The past is over with and we can’t change it, the future is still to come and there is no point in worrying about it, so today and NOW is really what counts.

Guardian Angels Ball
Our inaugural fund-raising ball was held in September at the prestigious Republic Restaurant in Denia Marina. It was attended by 90 guests and supporters who enjoyed a 4-course meal with wine, whilst being entertained by the wonderful voice of Rob Sweeney. After dinner, guests danced into the hot night outside on the terrace to the lively music of Strikland.
Four years ago when I started Guardian Angels and we began fund raising, one of my dreams was one day to have a Fund Raising Ball. That dream came true that night and I would like to thank organiser of the event, committee member, Linda Phillips, and all our wonderful helpers and supporters for making it happen.
The evening raised over €1000 and enables us to continue our work of helping single parents and their families, especially with the purchase of school books and funding training courses.

Mind Matters
The most important part of you is your mind (not your brain – the brain is the hardware and your mind creates the software.) Care for your mind, make friends with it, always feed it healthy food, engage it in positive activity, and exercise it with knowledge and wisdom. Like a garden returns fragrance and beauty according to the care invested, so your mind will repay with your thoughts, ideas and visions of great beauty when tended and invested with care.  Your mind is not made of matter but it does matter what you give it and what you create with it.  Where your mind goes, you go.  What your mind creates becomes your destiny.

Guardian Angels needs
help to expand
We are planning to expand our membership and offer our support services over a much wider area - we already have members in the UK and in Kenya. We are therefore looking for a volunteer, preferably with publicity experience and good Spanish, to help our president drive this project forward.

The person's role would be to seek out the places where single parents can be reached (schools and colleges, health and social centres, social media sites, etc.) and newspaper and radio stations in other areas, arranging for the display of posters, press articles, interviews and talks and helping to set up new groups.

President and founder Tricia Barr said, "Guardian Angels is a secular charity set up 4 years ago, dedicated to helping ease the isolation of single parent families with an on-call network of support. Our aim is to offer help in many forms such as mentoring, counselling, legal information, medical help, relaxation treatments, translation and much more. We also try to get lone mums and dads into the right positive mindset through a series of workshops designed to improve their self-esteem, whilst helping to deal with the emotional and mental stress of raising a family single-handed."

If you feel you have the skills and time to help with this interesting role, please email your details to or call Tricia on 62 279 5542.
You can find out more about Guardian Angels on tour website -
Guardian Angels support lone parents with children living with them. Unfortunately if a single parent marries or has a live in partner they are no longer eligible to be members so should inform us of their change in circumstances.
