LEHS Weekly Informational Letter
January 6, 2020

Dear LEHS Community,

I hope everyone had a great break and is coming back to the new year refreshed and energized to take on a new semester.  This semester will move quickly and the end of the school year will be here quickly.  We will begin the scheduling process in February, junior ACT testing in February, State Testing in April, and college visits throughout the semester.  Please don’t hesitate to call us and ask questions about scheduling, college credit plus, job shadowing, and college visits.

End of Semester Information
Students received a copy of their schedule for the second semester last week.  Grade cards will be distributed to students on January 10th in their first period class.  We will hold a transcript review with all students on January 24th to discuss the importance of these documents, the information contained on a transcript, and how they will be used throughout their lives.
Ricart Automotive
Several students had the opportunity to meet with a team from Ricart Automotive on Thursday to hear about their apprenticement program for their mechanical division through Columbus State Community College.  This is a great career path for students that results in “zero” debt with the #1 employer in Central Ohio.  If you or your child are interested please contact Nate Smith asap.

Chess Club
Mr. Forte started a chess club for students and they meet every Friday after school.  There has been a great turnout of students to learn the game and take their shot at beating Mr. Forte!

Creative Writing Contest
There will be a Logan Elm Creative Writing Competition on Saturday, February 22nd.  If you are interested in participating, please pick up a sign up form in the office.
Infinite Campus
Please take advantage of our new student information system Infinite Campus.  You can track your child’s grades, get assignment alerts, new grade alerts, view their fees, schedule, attendance, daily announcements, etc.  You will need to contact Mr. Dan Hugus or myself to receive an access code. or
Braves Against Drugs
LEHS has kicked off our annual campaign for “Braves against Drugs.”  Students who enroll in this program every year receive a t-shirt, coupons from local fast food chains, a ticket in the drawing for the Coughlin Automotive Car Give-away, and they are also subject to random drug screenings.  Our goal with this program is to give students an out when faced with peer pressure related to drug use.  Students were given information last Wednesday during lunch to bring home for parent signatures.  Students must re-enroll every year and pay $5 to help offset the cost of their t-shirt.
