LEHS Weekly Informational Letter
March 2, 2020

Dear LEHS Community,

We are the culture we want to see.  It is often said that sports teams take on the identity of their coach.  Their behaviors, work ethic, attitude, toughness, and attention to detail are a reflection of their coach.  The same could be said for education regarding a district, building, and our classrooms.  I wish I had a clicker to count every time someone in the public commented on our students and how well they represent our district and community.  This is a fact!  It is a direct reflection of our families, teachers, bus drivers, cooks, custodians, secretaries, aides, and the daily interaction they have with our students.  We constantly build the culture we want through the way we treat our kids.  This culture is not built overnight, it’s built through consistency.

Sincerely,
Nate Smith
Principal

Parent/Teacher Conferences
Conferences were held on February 20th for parents and teachers to meet and discuss student needs.  If you were unable to attend these conferences, please know that we will meet with you to discuss your child any day of the week.  If you have questions, concerns, or would simply like to hear an update on your child’s progress please call the office at 474-7503 or email your teacher.

History Field Trip
History teacher Matthew Forte escorted a group of students to the National Air Force Museum in Dayton.  Students had the opportunity to tour the entire museum and view FDR’s Sacred Cow.

New Building Update
Our new building continues to take shape with the Vision Committee.  The committee met three times to discuss the building design and appearance.  The committee was led by our architect Fanning Howey.  This month we will interview and hire the CMR (Construction Manager At Risk).  The project is now moving quickly and we are excited to begin the design process with the OFCC (Ohio Facilities Construction Commission) and Fanning Howey.  We will continue to post construction updates on our District website.

Scheduling Process
The scheduling process for the 20-21 school year begins this week.  Students will begin scheduling in their AE class on Wednesday with their teachers.  Students should have made their course selections, attained proper signatures for prerequisites, parent signatures, and entered their course selections into Infinite Campus by March 11th.   The 20-21 course description booklet can be found by clicking this link: https://tinyurl.com/sowvc7o.
