LEHS Informational Letter
December 17, 2020
Dear LEHS Community,
As we move through this school year we have missed multiple opportunities to communicate face to face with our students and families. At this point in the school year we would have met with grade levels in large groups to discuss grades, transcripts, clubs, events, college and career opportunities, and the list goes on and on. I would like to use this newsletter to break down each grade level with basic information for students and families.
General FAQs
How are my final grades calculated?
Final grades are calculated by adding the points you earn during each nine weeks. For example, A’s are worth 4 points, B’s 3 points, and so on. Mid-Term and Final exams are used, however you earn half of the normal points, A’s are worth 2, B’s 1.5, and so on. Students must earn at least 5 points to pass a year long course, with a minimum of 2 points in the 2nd semester, and 2.5 points for semester course, with 1 point in the last quarter. The chart below is also in the student handbook, https://www.loganelm.org/loganelmhighschool_home.aspx.
Yearlong course Semester course Letter Grade
18-20 9-10 A
13-17.99 6.5-8.99 B
8-12.99 4-6.49 C
5-7.99 2.5-3.99 D
0-4.99 0-2.49 F
Will students take the End of Course Exams this year?
Yes. We will offer make-up exams to students who are in need of points in January. All students enrolled in courses requiring an End of Course exam will take these at the end of April during a two-hour delay schedule.

Algebra and Geometry- April 26-27

How do I keep up with my work if I’ve been absent or quarantined?
